Already the cover remains in the memory. One wonders about the strange beauty of the arrangement and quickly realises that the music is also a strange beauty. With Petrichor, the band Exquisite Instant has made a great debut.

Petrichor is not only designed with love - from the cover to the inlay - but also arranged, composed, recorded and produced with love. And that a year after the band was founded. Not bad! Love seems to be Exquisite Instant's core competence anyway. Sometimes silly, insinuating, sometimes completely devoted, unhappy, romantic, sometimes aggressively... Dance! Now!.., it comes again and again.

The crossover round-up kicks off with a ten-minute funk smasher. The self-titled Exquisite Instant is reminiscent of the early Red Hot Chili Peppers: If you want me to stay. We do! Less crazy without Doctor Funkenstein, but with more soul and the Soul Messengers.

Some of the songs are quite complex and the instruments are varied. Yet everything remains entertaining, relaxed and doesn't become obtrusive. An art. Calm, smooth, psychedelic phases alternate with very funky hooks, catchy melodies and a board of one rock lick, such as on - how could it be otherwise - Love Thing. The vocals also move back and forth ... in the twilight zone of chanting and singing.
