about

RedDelicious, musical natural phenomenon and OneManPsychedelicBand, releases his latest work "Hortus Musicus Vol. 1", a sound journey through the garden of his ancestors. Here a thicket neo-folk rock, there a shrubbery psychedelic and in the center an impressive vintage indie rockus. All designed in a fine English style. Paradox? Maybe, but the time is simply ripe for a lush RedDelicious-style harvest feast.

"Hortus Musicus Vol. 1" is a fascinating bouquet of music made of fuzzy guitars and beguiling recorders, bundling sad, Harvest-like western ballads with garage-punk doomsday songs. Dense and polyphonically produced, the broad, complex arrangements reflect influences from artists such as The Kinks, Small Faces, Erkin Koray and The Beatles.

RedDelicious explains the project's origins:
"Based on the 1687 collection of six suites by composer (and my supposed ancestor) Johann Adam Reincken, or Jan Adams Reincken (1643-1722), and based on his transmitted homage to J.S. Bach, 'I thought this art was dead, but I see that it lives in you,' the first part of a song cycle in different styles has been created."

And how different! RedDelicious on the tracks on "Hortus Musicus Vol. 1":
Jazz chords combine with a washed-out fuzz melody to create a fuzzy drum roll. (Jazz Cowboy)
Obituary to my cat's brother, found run over on the road. (A Little Blood)
If you ignore everything around you, you end up ignoring yourself. (Pretend to be Alone)
My failed attempt to reinterpret Simon & Garfunkel with hard distorted guitar folk. (Don't Wait)
A tongue-in-cheek tribute to the Small Faces and their album classic Ogden's Nut Gone Flake. (Son of a Bakerman)
Summer is over, the harvest is almost in, soon comes autumn and the cold season. One more time to enjoy the warm sunshine of Indian Summer. (Summer's Gone)
A cathedral to walking. (Let's Take a Walk)
